From the Helm

The weather is heating up now that we are in June. And so are the activities at your Chicago Yacht Club Foundation. I am excited to share that the Foundation will be offering new sailing camps for our kids at Monroe Harbor on our newly-acquired J/100 sailboat. Our new Community Sailing Manager, Caroline O’Malley, is hard at work planning for this exciting new initiative. Read more about our new program and Caroline below.

Also in this issue, we’re featuring our long-term, active partnership with SOS Children’s Villages Illinois. SOS and the Club have worked together for many years, beginning with the Chicago Regatta. Read more about how we have dramatically expanded our collaboration. Read also about our spectacular send-off for our hometown Olympic sailors––Steph Roble and Maggie Shea. Thanks to your support, the Foundation has been able to give Maggie and Steph all of the support they need to go for gold in Marseille this year!

These are just the highlights––we have dozens of programs running and hundreds of kids benefitting from them this summer. Read more about all of the big things we are doing together in future issues of the Beacon!
