The Union League Boys and Girls Clubs held its annual luncheon and annual meeting on May 11, which also served as an opportunity to honor partners, scholarship recipients, trustees, and outstanding organizations that have shown tremendous support to the Clubs. Among the esteemed guests in attendance was the Chicago Yacht Club Foundation, which was recognized for their outstanding partnership. The Foundation shared this prestigious recognition with other leading organizations such as the Chicago Engineers Foundation and UIC John Marshall Law School, all of whom have made significant contributions to the club and the community.
The event was filled with inspiring moments and heartfelt expressions of gratitude. A large screen displayed a carousel of pictures, showcasing the impact of the Clubs' initiatives and the smiles on the faces of those who have benefited from them. As the images flickered across the screen, attendees were reminded of the beauty and joy that the Club brings to the lives of Chicago's youth.
Thomas Payne, President of the Union League Boys & Girls Clubs, expressed his appreciation to the partner organizations, saying, "Today, we celebrate not only the wonderful work of the Union League Boys and Girls Clubs, but also the magic that happens when we come together. Because of your support, we can make a real difference in the lives of these young individuals." His words resonated with the audience, emphasizing the significance of collaboration and community engagement.
The luncheon event served as a reminder of the Foundation's commitment to promoting awareness and appreciation of maritime skills and traditions in Chicagoland through education, outreach, and activities as well as the support of like-minded charitable organizations. Through partnerships and scholarships, we aim to provide opportunities that allow young individuals to reach their full potential. The recognition and honor bestowed upon the Foundation and other partner organizations by the Clubs further reinforce the positive impact they have made in the community.
There to accept the award on behalf of the Chicago Yacht Club Foundation was Vice President Cyd Archer, who remarked “It was very nice to be recognized and honored as one of their partner organizations.”
This event showcased the value of collaborative efforts and the collective power to effect change. As the luncheon came to a close, attendees left with a renewed sense of purpose and a deeper appreciation for dedication to supporting the youth of Chicago.
Thomas Payne closed the event, thanking attendees: “It’s a beautiful day outside, but a better day inside. Because of you we can make this all happen.”
