Dear Friends,
It’s been an amazing year so far at the Chicago Yacht Club Foundation. During the boating season, we saw hundreds of kids from all across the city of Chicago participating in Foundation-supported programs.
We started publishing the Beacon to keep you in the loop and share some of the great stories that resulted from your support.
In this month’s issue, we highlight Eric Zirkle and Mark Singer, two graduates of our new Maritime Academy. They’re using their training in their new roles at Belmont.
Also in this issue, we’re featuring a terrific Donor Profile of Bill and Jude Bloom. Bill and Jude are tremendous friends and Foundation supporters, and I know you’ll be inspired by their commitment to supporting the next generation of heroes.
As the weather turns colder, we’re turning our attention to plans for 2023. In the next couple of months, we’ll be unveiling some new initiatives and partnerships designed to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Chicagoland kids. Please mark your calendars for two events.
On Wednesday, November 16, I’ll share a report on Foundation activities at the Club’s Annual Meeting. And on Tuesday, November 29, please plan to join us at Monroe Station for our First Annual “Meet the Kids Night.” During this event, you’ll hear from – and have dinner with – some of the kids who have participated in Foundation-sponsored programs. You might be sitting next to a sailing camp participant, a Maritime Academy graduate, one of our Sea Scouts, or one of the other many kids who have benefited from your support. Click here for more details and to sign up.
Personally, I’ve been blown away by the support and encouragement that so many of you have offered your Foundation. We’re doing our best to earn those treasured gifts, and look forward to telling you more about what we’re doing, and more importantly, what we’re planning for 2023 and beyond.
I look forward to seeing many of you in the coming weeks.
Let's continue doing big things. Together.
