Welcome to the July edition of the Beacon!  Summer is in full swing, and your Chicago Yacht Club Foundation is hard at work, expanding opportunities for hundreds of Chicagoland kids––from swimming school to sailing camps to cruises along Chicago’s lakefront, and everything in between. This month’s Beacon spotlights one of our programs this summer: Judd’s Sailing Camp, run in conjunction with the Judd Goldman Adaptive Sailing Foundation. Also in this edition, I know you will enjoy our Donor Spotlight feature, focusing on my good friend Captain Dave Truitt. I’ve known Captain Dave since I was a toddler, and he’s been an inspiration for my entire life.

Speaking of inspiration, we're excited to watch Competition Fund grantees Steph Roble and Maggie Shea as they compete in Marseille next week. The Chicago Yacht Club is hosting watch parties so come on down to see the action!
 
I hope you are excited as we are about the upcoming Chicago Regatta in September. The Foundation is one of three charities benefitting from this terrific event. We’re hosting a dessert reception on August 29 for all donors and friends, so we help build excitement about the Regatta and tell you more about what we are up to this summer. I hope you will join us for both events!
