Are you a Chicago-area community organization? Consider partnering with the Chicago Yacht Club Foundation to deliver unique and accessible maritime programs to your service population. See below for the basics and reach out to us at programs@chicagoyachtclubfoundation.org to learn more.
WHY?
CYC Foundation programs offer your youth fun and enriching experiences on and off the water. Boating offers benefits beyond simply riding on the vessel (although that’s fun too): Kids can try new things, learn STEM/STEAM, engage in hands-on activities, make new friends, develop teamwork and leadership abilities, gain skills to qualify for maritime employment, see the city from a new perspective, and simply have fun on the lakefront.
Programs are supported by the Foundation, at no cost to participants.
WHAT?
Whether it is a day out on Lake Michigan, an afternoon exploring boating-related STEAM activities, or a multi-day sailing adventure, we have programs for youth elementary age and up. Explore all of our program offerings.
WHEN?
We offer programs year round! During the summer we have a plethora of on-the-water activities to engage youth in boating experiences. During the fall and spring months, we offer after-school programming to keep youth engaged.
WHERE?
Programs primarily take place at Chicago Yacht Club at both the Monroe Harbor and Belmont Harbor stations. They are both accessible via public transportation, and free parking is available at Monroe (paid parking at Belmont). We are able to offer some programs, including STEM/STEAM After School, on-site at partner locations; and we offer sailing camp scholarships to any Chicago-area sailing program, including CYC, Columbia Yacht Club, Jackson Park Yacht Club, and Sheridan Shores.
WHO?
We partner with schools and nonprofit community organizations who have missions and visions that may be advanced via ours: “to bring the joys and benefits of boating to all.”
