From the Helm

Welcome to the November 2023 edition of From the Helm. We had a fantastic turnout at the Meet the Kids night in October which brought together kids who have joined one of the various programs with supporters from the Foundation. We want to thank all our kids for their boundless energy and bravery for standing up and telling their stories. 

We introduced our annual giving campaign at Meet the Kids with an ambitious goal of surpassing 2022 by 75%. We are off to an inspiring start with a $125,000 matching fund established by several generous supporters. Your support has an enormous impact on youth from underrepresented communities in Chicago. See below for how your donations help.

Our next step is to educate and engage with everyone who has supported us in the past.  Please check your inbox/mailbox for a copy of our latest impact report highlighting all the inspiring programs the Foundation has delivered in 2023, and our big plans for 2024. Speaking of inspiring… we want to congratulate CYC’s own Maggie Shea and Steph Roble for their medal performance in the Pan American games as they continue the push to Paris 2024. The Foundation is proud to support their campaign and is thrilled to have then joining us on November 17th for A Night to Inspire: Powering the Competitive Sailing Journey (non-CYC members, register here). Come meet Maggie and Steph and learn about their Campaign for Paris 2024 and other ways the Foundation is supporting Chicago-area competitive sailors.
